SO, DO I REALLY NEED TO KEEP MY HANDS CLEAN?
PURELL. The brand now omnipresent in every shopping mall, office building, and doctor’s office, was once pretty obscure.
Certainly people knew they should wash their hands. But many didn't think it was really necessary.
This campaign used two different ways to let people know they should think again about washing their hands. And washing them well.
First, we put stickers on Doctor’s office magazines -- the ones that are usually a couple years old. Second, we placed life size decals of guys in men’s restrooms -- the doorknob strategically placed within the image.
It won a Cannes Lion.
